What is Maths all about?
As a Mathematics Department, we aim to deliver a curriculum that motivates and engages learners so they can reach and exceed their potential over the 5 years of study. We create an exciting, creative and supportive environment for learning to take place and have high expectations of all pupils
We are currently integrating opportunities into our curriculum to enrich, encourage and challenge mathematical thinking. This summer we will be taking 75 students from KS3 and KS4 to Disneyland Paris on a mathematics residential trip, which is an exciting opportunity to see Maths in action for both the students and the staff!
At Key Stage 3, students follow a two year scheme of work and they are assessed half termly. The tests are levelled and the students’ progress is tracked throughout the key stage. One piece of homework is set weekly, depending on the topic studied it may be a written homework or set through mymaths, which every child has a personal account.
At Key Stage 4, students follow a 3 year scheme of work and study the Edexcel Linear GCSE specification. We offer early entry to our pupils and those pupils that achieve or exceed their targets have the opportunity study Statistics at GCSE.
We track our pupils carefully in both key stages and offer personalised intervention when needed.
Provides a wide range of lessons, online worksheets and booster packs. Your child will have a login for their personal account where they can also access homework tasks
Is available through the school website and is a bank of interactive video clips covering every A* to G topic (183 of them) and all topics from level 3 – 5 just like a teacher would at the board. Almost every clip has an example of a past GCSE question with a worked answer. In addition every clip has a corresponding worksheet that can be printed and worked through.
