I hope you enjoyed your summer holidays, and that your children are now ready (if not keen) to return to school in a few days time.
I am writing to ask you to ensure that they have a full set of school equipment ready for their return. We will have a staggered start to the year whilst we ensure that our new students are settled successfully, and our relaunch of the school has maximum impact.
I will be holding a number of meetings for families over the first few weeks back, and would ask that you put the date in your diary to attend the meeting with your children. If you have children in more than one year group it would be helpful if you could attend each relevant meetings for your child, but if this is problematic please bring your children to the one which suits your time frame best and I will add a short extra presentation at the end of the meeting to ensure that your child gets the information most relevant to their year group. Year 11 students should take priority where possible ie If you have children in year 11 and 9 but can only attend one meeting, bring BOTH children to the year 11 one.
We will keep registers of attendance as we feel it is essential that all families attend the meetings.
The dates and times for the meetings are listed below:
Year 7 | Wednesday 5th September | 6.00pm – 7.00pm | Main Hall |
Year 8 | Thursday 6th September | 6.00pm – 7.00pm | Main Hall |
Year 9 | Monday 10th September | 6.00pm – 7.00pm | Main Hall |
Year 10 | Tuesday 11th September | 6.00pm – 7.00pm | Main Hall |
Year 11 | Wednesday 12th September | 6.00pm – 7.00pm | Main Hall |
The meetings will contain information regarding this year’s GCSE results, the new GCSE exams, the role of the school, parents / carers and students. It is important to attend as there have been significant changes to these crucial exams, and it’s important that we all share an understanding of what this means for us all.
Enjoy the rest of the holidays, and we’ll see your children on their first day back during the week beginning the 3rd September. It is ESSENTIAL that all students attend the first sessions during the first week as we will be issuing very important information which will ensure a smooth start to the year. Any students not attending will feel themselves at a disadvantage from their peers – please ensure your children check the website and know when to come in. We will also send the timetable to their school email address, and via parent mail to ensure the schedule is very clear.
